Beautiful Japanese Satsuma-style basket vase with rich moriage enamel, fine gold painting and a central hand-painted scene with figures in traditional clothing.
Typical of Satsuma are the raised white dots, the vibrant red and gold tones, floral ornaments, and the detailed depiction of everyday scenes. The handled basket displays all these characteristics in high quality.
Stylistically, the piece dates from the Showa period (approx. 1930–1960) and is a decorative collector's item of Japanese art ceramics.
