Rare mid-century ceramic vase by Marianne Starck (height 21 cm) for Michael Andersen & Sons, Bornholm (Denmark). The vase features a typical figurative motif of the artist: a stylized person in bold colors, executed in the characteristic craquelé glaze for which Starck became internationally known.
On the underside is the Michael Andersen bell logo with the letters “MA” or “MS”, the signature of Marianne Starck, who was the artistic director of the manufactory from 1955 to 1993.
The combination of graphic motif, colored fields and craquelé structure makes this piece an iconic example of Danish studio ceramics from the 1960s–1970s.
Condition Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. The fine craquelure texture is original and intentional.
