Piesche & Reif was an important ceramics company in Kamenz (Saxony), which was particularly known for its sgraffito ceramic vases in the 1950s.
Designer
The designers are not always known by name, as the designs were often developed as a collaborative effort within the factory. A well-known name who was active in the ceramics scene and influenced decorative design was Hans Meyer. After elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a ceramic painter at Villeroy & Boch in Dresden from 1940 to 1943. From 1953 onward, he worked as a form and decorative designer at the Piesche & Reif pottery factory in Kamenz.
