This enchanting floral still life is by the German painter Lore Uphoff-Schill (1890–1968), a prominent representative of the Worpswede artists' colony. The work features a lovingly arranged composition of roses in various colors—a symbol of the artist's poetic depth and refined eye for the beauty of nature.
The delicate blossoms, embedded in a dark background, create an almost meditative effect. The golden frame underscores the classic elegance of the painting and makes it a true eye-catcher—whether in the living room, studio, or as a special gift for art lovers.
About the artist: Lore Uphoff-Schill Born in 1890 in Düsseldorf as Lore Schill, daughter of art professor Adolf Schill. Trained at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts, among others under Lothar von Kunowski. From 1913 onwards she worked together with her husband Fritz Uphoff in a studio in Düsseldorf, where she initially created figurative fairy tale paintings. After moving to Worpswede, a well-known artists' village, she turned to landscape and flower painting. Her works are characterized by a special spraying technique with which she impressively depicted the moor landscapes around Worpswede.
From the 1940s onward, limited by a leg condition, she devoted herself primarily to flower still lifes, which are now considered her most characteristic works. Her works have been collected and exhibited by the Provincial Museum Hanover and the Sprengel Museum, among others. A truly unique piece for collectors and lovers of classical art.
