Anthroposophical pull-along duck in the circle of Rudolf Steiner – 1930s
23 H x 21 W x 16 D cm.
A rare and extraordinary anthroposophical pull-along duck made of wood, probably originating in the German-speaking world in the 1930s in the context of early Waldorf and reform pedagogy.
The duck exhibits the reduced design language characteristic of anthroposophical toys, featuring hand-carved facets, deliberately simplified contours, and a warm, child-friendly aesthetic. This educational approach placed particular emphasis on forms that foster imagination and the use of natural materials.
The body is carved from solid wood and painted. The large wooden wheels ensure smooth running, while the pull cord preserves the original gameplay. The sculpted duck head with its distinctive red beak is particularly charming.
Such early anthroposophical toys are rarely preserved today and are appreciated by collectors of historical toys as well as by those interested in Waldorf and reform pedagogy.
An exceptional collector's item with authentic patina and impressive presence.
