This owl sculpture comes from the workshop of Aldo Londi, the legendary artistic director of Bitossi Ceramiche (from 1946). Londi shaped the international image of Italian ceramics with his structured surfaces, graphic animal figures, and experimental glazes.
The owl displays typical Londi characteristics: – geometrically stylized eyes – rhythmic line structure – hand-modeled form – strong, reflective glaze (metallic, bronzed or colored depending on the series)
Many of these animal figurines were produced in the 1960s/70s as decorative objects for the international market and are now sought-after collector's items, especially in good condition and with original base markings.
