Antique Japanese Satsuma cachepot with gold-plated mount
Exceptional Japanese cachepot or jardinière made of finely crackled ceramic with elaborate hand painting and decorative gilded metal mounting.
The vessel features a richly detailed figurative decoration with courtly scenes, fan motifs, and traditional garments. The finely crafted gold trim and the typical crackle glaze lend the object the characteristic aesthetic of Japanese Satsuma ware from the export era.
Particularly appealing is the fully preserved gilded mount with its openwork gallery, curved handles, and elaborately designed feet in the historicist style. The combination of Japanese ceramic and European-style bronze mounts was very popular for high-quality export pieces destined for the Western market.
There is a red hand-painted signature on the underside.
A decorative and collectible object for lovers of Asian art, Japanese ceramics, Satsuma ware and historical home furnishings.
