Expressive ethnographic wooden figure in a kneeling position.
This hand-carved figure, crafted from heavy hardwood, depicts a stylized human form with crossed arms. The figure holds a rod-shaped and a curved object. The distinctive head with its disc-shaped ears and the simplified design lend the piece a strong sculptural presence.
The dark surface, marked by age and use, displays a beautiful natural patina with wear on the raised areas. An old wax seal or inventory seal with a number is affixed to the belly, which could indicate a previous collection or dealer provenance.
The exact ethnic origin could not be verified. The work is therefore offered as an ethnographic or tribal-inspired wooden sculpture from the 20th century.
