Signed artist's ceramic piece by Maria Delago (1902–1979), South Tyrolean sculptor and ceramicist - ceramic figure, Studio Pottery sculpture, 19 cm

Charming handmade ceramic figure of a standing lady, signed Maria Delago.

Condition: unfortunately thumb broken off

The expressive sculpture impresses with its reduced design language, the deliberately simple modeling of the face, and the charming flowing glaze in delicate turquoise, cream, and rose tones.

The handcrafted workmanship and organic surface give the figure a distinctive Studio Ceramics character. The stylized representation is reminiscent of European artist ceramics of the mid-century period and is ideally suited as a decorative collector's item for lovers of handmade ceramics and figurative sculpture.

The signature “DELAGO” is handwritten on the bottom of the figure.

Maria Delago (1902–1979) was a prominent South Tyrolean sculptor, ceramicist, and graphic artist. Born in St. Leonhard in Passeier, she studied ceramics under Michael Powolny and sculpture under Anton Hanak at the Vienna School of Applied Arts from 1924 to 1926. She later continued her studies in Munich and ran her own studio with a kiln in Bolzano.
