Exceptional two-piece ceramic ensemble consisting of a figurative candle holder and a matching girl figure with a bouquet of flowers.
The handcrafted terracotta figures impress with their charming folk character and finely crafted details. The candlestick features a stylized head with a decorative plant and flower relief, while the accompanying figure depicts a girl holding flowers.
The warm brown surface and the naive, expressive design language are reminiscent of 20th-century Hungarian ceramic tradition. Stylistically, the set shows similarities to works by Margit Kovács, an important Hungarian ceramic artist. However, a confirmed attribution is not available and is expressly not guaranteed.
A rare decorative object for collectors of studio ceramics, Hungarian folk art, mid-century design and folk art.
