Original Art Nouveau wall candlestick based on a design by Heinrich Vogeler (1872-1942) from Worpswede. This rare model was made around 1900 and displays the characteristic floral design language of German Art Nouveau with stylized tulip motifs, curved lines and openwork ornaments.
Of particular note is the presence of the early Worpswede foundry mark. The hallmark on the reverse, bearing the characteristic symbol, is considered an indication of early production and makes the piece especially interesting for collectors of German Art Nouveau objects.
The chandelier accommodates two candles and is equally impressive as a functional lighting object and a decorative wall sculpture. Its elegant design embodies the artistic aspirations of the Worpswede artists' colony and is among Heinrich Vogeler's most sought-after designs.
An exceptional collector's item for lovers of Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts and German decorative arts.
