Antique Chinese ancestral figure made of wood, 45 cm, polychrome gilded dignitary on throne, Qing style, Asian temple figure, vintage

Antique Chinese ancestral figure on a throne, made of polychrome painted wood

An exceptional old wooden sculpture of a seated Chinese dignitary or ancestor in formal court dress. The figure displays a finely carved and richly decorated garment with dragon motifs, relief ornamentation, and remnants of old gilding.

The impressive figure sits on a traditional throne and wears a characteristic official's crown with decorative ornamentation. Particularly appealing is the authentic patina of age and use, with wear, loss of mounting, and age-related shrinkage cracks, which lend the object a strong historical aura.

The sculpture is ideally suited as a collector's item of Asian art, as an eye-catcher in an Asian-inspired interior, or as a decorative statement piece for Wabi-Sabi, Colonial, and Curiosity interiors.
