An exceptional vintage painting featuring a stylized depiction of birds in the tradition of East African Tingatinga painting. The work shows a coastal bird incubating eggs, along with two birds flying above, in a highly graphic and decorative composition.
32 x 40 cm
The expressive red eyes, the clear contours, and the high-contrast coloring are reminiscent of works by the famous Tanzanian Tingatinga school, and in particular of bird motifs such as those known from artists associated with Hashim Mruta. However, a definitive attribution has not been established.
The picture has a special presence and is ideally suited as a collector's item of African art, as a mid-century wall decoration, or as a striking eye-catcher in modern, Scandinavian, or ethnically inspired interiors.
