The “Quattro Gatti” are among the most exciting early works by Mario Bellini, before he became internationally famous through Cassina, Olivetti and Vitra. Produced by C&B Italia (later B&B Italia), these tables demonstrate Bellini's experimental approach to new materials: Fiberlite, a glass fiber reinforced plastic that was considered an innovative lightweight material in the 1960s.
The set consists of four modular elements, which – individually as side tables, – side by side as a lowboard, – or stacked as a sculptural unit can be used.
The characteristic rounded edges, the monolithic shape and the stackable construction make the “Quattro Gatti” an iconic example of Italian design history.
