Gustave Falconnier glass brick No. 8

An authentic Falconnier glass brick No. 8, manufactured in France from 1886 onwards. Gustave Falconnier developed these revolutionary hollow glass bricks as a lightweight, translucent building material for conservatories, facades, and greenhouses. Each brick was mouth-blown and then hermetically sealed – a technical masterpiece of its time.

This example displays the typical aqua-green glass color, fine air inclusions, and characteristic shape of early production. The inscription “MADE IN FRANCE – O 48” is visible on the base.

Today, Falconnier glass stones are sought-after collector's items, prized by enthusiasts of historical architecture, design history, and French glassmaking. They are perfectly suited as sculptures, paperweights, lighting objects, or as iconic standalone pieces in a modern interior.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with minimal signs of age. No cracks, no chips. This is a vintage item. Small irregularities, air bubbles, or minimal signs of use are typical of mouth-blown glass and part of its authentic character.
